Opening
I first visited Greece in 1985, with a couple of friends, and started to enjoy this country and it' s people. Since then I have had the opportunity to visit Greece a couple of times; in fact every year since 1992.
Leading a rather hectic live, as we tend do in western society, I found it very peaceful to visit small, not overcrowded islands, even for a few weeks only.
This pages, will not be a complete guide to Greece, but only some thoughts and information about islands, which I've learned to love.
What you will find
- Opening, usually with some thoughts why I choose to visit the particular island.
- Where to stay? Here you find some suggestions about accommodations.
- What to do? / Around the island. I give you some ideas about what to do and where to go.
- Beaches. A rather complete guide to the beaches, including valuable information for those how prefer clothing optional beaches.
- Pictures. In this section I present a selection of pictures from the island.
- Further headings you can find on some pages: Getting a room, Walking, Where to Eat, Transportation, Nice view and some more.
On some pages I tell a little story about different events I have experienced.
Beach information
Many people visit Greece because they enjoy the wonderful climate and all the splendid beaches which exists on many islands. A lot of these tourist also enjoy the freedom of being nude on a beach, letting the sun caress all of the body. This has also become rather common among the Greek’s themselves nowadays.
However there are very few official naturist beaches in Greece and everywhere you travel on the Greek islands you find this sign: Nudism forbidden. But luckily there are a lot of beaches that are considered to be unofficial naturist beaches where you can go nude if you want to, since most islands have several beaches to choose from.
Here are some information’s that will guide you:
- Beaches that are located at some distance from a settlement, i.e. not the closest beach to the settlement, and cannot be seen to easily from a road, is usually regarded as a clothing optional (CO) beach.
- If you visit a regular beach, you may find another beach nearby, perhaps behind some rocks on either side of the first beach. This second beach is often a CO beach.
- Sometimes you find beaches where you are alone and if the spot cannot be seen to easily from a nearby road or settlement, you can set the tone and declare it CO for the day.
On this site I have information about the CO-status of every beach I describe. The beaches are divided into three levels:
Co beach.
Maybe a CO beach depending on the circumstances.
Regular beach.
Islands
To this date I have visited islands in the Cyclades, except for Astipálea and Tilos which belong to the Dodecanese.
